About this study
Second Chapter: Life After Hysterectomy is a research project exploring how people experience their bodies and lives many years after having a hysterectomy.
Why this study?
Even though in Canada, it is quite common for people who are born with a uterus to have it surgically removed, we know very little about how hysterectomy can affect a person's life.
Who can Participate?
You may be eligible if you :
Are an adult (18+)
Had a hysterectomy for non-cancerous (benign) reasons more than 10 years ago
Are comfortable participating in an in-person interview
Can communicate in English or with interpretation support
What’s Involved?
We’ll choose a time and place to meet that works for you.
You’ll have an open conversation with me about your life experience after hysterectomy.
The interview usually takes about 90 minutes, but the length depends on how much you’d like to share.
You can learn more about participation by reviewing the consent information here.

About me...
My name is Nicole Berry. I'm a medical anthropologist and a professor who works at Simon Fraser University (here's my faculty profile). I have written two books on global health interventions in Guatemala (link to the first and the second) and am now transitioning to research in Canada. I am also a mom and a partner. When I'm not doing research or teaching, you can find me hiking outside, baking sourdough in my kitchen, or reading a good book. I live and work on unceded and traditional territories of Xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musquem), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish), səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), and kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem) Nations.
